Cheerleading Squads forming for YMCA
Basketball Games - 12 week Program
Participants grades 1st - 5th will attend a weekly cheer and tumbling class and cheer at Saturday morning basketball games in the months of January and February.
Venice Branch - begins November 30th
- Practice: Wednesdays 5:00 - 6:00 pm
- Cost: $165 members / $225 non-mbrs (includes uniform: skirt, top and poms)
Englewood Branch - begins November 29th
- Practice: Tuesdays 4:30 - 5:30 pm
- Cost: $150 members / $225 non-mbrs (includes uniform: skirt, top and poms)

2011-12 Competitive Cheerleading
The Venice Goldstars represent the All-Star cheerleading program at the Venice YMCA. Competitive cheerleaders will attend competitions during the 2011-12 season all over the state of Florida.
Squads have been formed for the 2011-12 season and practice is underway. Please download the applicable squad information to view practice times, fees and competition dates. Also provided is the Goldstar Competitive Cheerleader handbook with policies and expectations of a competitive cheer team member.
Anyone interested in the 2012 - 2013 must attend the week-long cheer camp / tryout July 30 - August 3, 2012. Please contact the Cheerleading Coodinator, at (941) 375-9121 with questions and registration information.
Summer 2012 Cheerleading Camps
This camp teaches the athleticism of the sport of cheerleading while having fun in a stimulating environment. Cheerleading instructors cover levels from beginner to advanced tumbling, stunting and jumps. A dance, full-length cheers and chants will be taught to “blow” the crowd away.
Participants will be split up into groups based on age & skill level. Skills taught will be based on the experience and level of individual.
Proper cheer attire is required: Girls wear a t-shirt tucked into cheer shorts with socks and white cheer shoes. Hair must be pulled back tightly out of the face. Boys wear t-shirt or tank top and shorts with elastics waist. Absolutely NO jeans and/or shorts with sippers and buttons.
FULL DAY CAMP
- Ages: Boys and Girls Grades 1st – 8th
- Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00-5:00 (free early drop-off at 7:00 and late pick-up until 6:00)
- Cost: $110 mbrs per week/ $165 nmbr per week
- Weeks Offered: June 18 - 22, 2012
- Competitive Cheer / Tryout Camp: July 30 - August 3, 2012 (fees and times TBA)
HALF DAY CAMP
- Ages: Boys and Girls Grades 1st – 8th
- Hours: Monday - Friday 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
- Cost: $70 mbrs per week/ $105 nmbr per week
- Weeks Offered: June 18 - 22, 2012
- Competitive Cheer / Tryout Camp: July 30 - August 3, 2012 (fees and times TBA)
Registration Instructions:
- Online: Register and pay online; however, you must download the Summer Camper Information Card and return to the gymnastics office
- In-person: Come to the YMCA front desk or the Gymnastics & Dance pro-shop, fill out the appropriate forms (Registration Form and Summer Camper Information Card) and pay by check, cash or credit card (mastercard/Visa/Discover)
- Mail: Download both the Registration Form and Summer Camper Information Card and mail with check to: Venice YMCA c/o Michelle Guy, 701 Center Road, Venice, FL, 34239
Registration and payment for each week is due the Wednesday prior to each week. A $25 service fee will apply to late registrations.
