Englewood YMCA READS! Program
Myakka Elementary and the Englewood Family YMCA have teamed up to offer the YMCA READS! Program before and after school on location at Myakka Elementary. This joint venture supports our district's commitment to the reading success of our students, and targets 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders. Kindergarten students will be added later on in the year by teacher's recommendation.
The program is staffed by Linda Ware, Englewood Family YMCA READS! Coordinator and YMCA Volunteer tutors who have been trained to work with your child using research-based reading intervention strategies.
Sessions will be scheduled for following regular school days:
Session A will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00am-8:30am (2nd-3rd graders)
Session B will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays 3:00-4:30pm (2nd-3rd graders)
Session C will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:00am-8:30am (1st grade)
Session D will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:00-4:30pm (1st grade)
If your child is enrolled in the YMCA After-School program, the READS! staff will bring students to that program after class. If your child is not in the afterschool program at the YMCA, you will need to pick up him/her at Myakka School Front Lobby area at the end of the tutorial session.
