The South County Family YMCA offers a variety of sports programs for everyone, young and old, to enjoy. Whether you are looking for recreational opportunities, a challenge for your mind and body or just a fun way to stay fit and healthy, we have the sports programs for you and your family.
Did you know the YMCA organization actually invented the games of basketball and volleyball? The youth recreational sports program offers children an opportunity to learn various sports in a less-competitive environment. All of our sports programs have implemented special rules dictating guaranteed playing time for all participants that ensure your child a great opportunity to play.
The YMCA views its sports programs as a vehicle to instill its Five Character Values of faith, honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility into all of the participants. The YMCA emphasizes the importance of teamwork and good sportsmanship in a less competitive, instructional environment. Our approach to youth sports facilitates the development of self-esteem thereby guaranteeing a higher level of success.
The goal of the YMCA is for every person in our sports programs to have a fun, safe, productive experience. The YMCA believes and promotes the concept that the overall well-being and success of the athlete are more important than winning.

The Sports Department is always looking for energetic adults who love working with kids to volunteer for our many sports programs.
